PGCBL Daily Roundup: July 11, 2018On the day where the PGCBL unveils its 2018 All-Star Game rosters, eight of the league's 13 games are in action. Tuesday's Results Wednesday's Scheduled Games Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs at Utica Blue Sox The streaking Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs will look to extend their lead in the PGCBL Central on the road against the Utica Blue Sox. The Dawgs and the Blue Sox have played a relatively even series this season, with Mohawk Valley holding a lead of four games to three, taking the lead with a 10-4 victory in Utica on July 3. Mohawk Valley will give the baseball to Tyler Schoff (Bryant), who will attempt to snap a three-game losing streak after winning his first two starts. Amsterdam Mohawks at Saugerties Stallions First place in the PGCBL East is on the line at Cantine Field, as the Mohawks and Stallions look to break their tie atop the division with both teams holding identical 18-13 records. The division remained tied after a split of a doubleheader on Tuesday night, and Wednesday's game marks the deciding game of a three game series. All-Star righthander Zack Durant (Herkimer) will make the start for the Mohawks, and will look to pick up his third win of the season. Elmira Pioneers at Geneva Red Wings The winner of Wednesday's contest at McDonough Park will claim second place in the PGCBL West, which will guarantee the holder a spot in the PGCBL Playoffs at season's end. The Pioneers have won three consecutive games in the series to even the season series at three games apiece, including a 6-2 win at Dunn Field on Tuesday night. Steve Branche (RIT) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Red Wings, and is making his sixth start of the season. Glens Falls Dragons at Jamestown Jammers Glens Falls will go for a season series sweep of the Jamestown Jammers on the road on Wednesday night. The Dragons knocked off the Jammers at East Field on June 17, 9-4, behind a 3-for-3 with three RBI performance from Danny Ryan (Fairfield). The pitching matchup at Diethrick Park will feature Glens Falls' Mitch Guerreri (Goldey-Beacom) taking on Conner Ryan (Mercyhurst), who holds a 2-0 record thus far this summer. |
