PGCBL Daily Roundup: July 5, 2018Following a three game slate on the Fourth of July, eight teams in the PGCBL take on the field on the fifth. Wednesday's Results Amsterdam 6, Oneonta 3 Thursday's Scheduled Games Geneva Red Wings at Albany Dutchmen A pair of third place teams meet the in the first game of an East vs. West home-and-home series. Albany and Geneva both sit a half game out of second place in their respective divisions, and will look to continue their winning ways after victories on Tuesday and off days on Wednesday. The Dutchmen will send former PGCBL Pitcher of the Week Deaven Phillips (Tampa) to the mound for his fourth start of the season, as the righthander looks to lower his 1.62 ERA and pick up his third win. Saugerties Stallions at Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs will look for the season series sweep over Saugerties, three nights after dismantling the Stallions, 14-1, at Cantine Field. Mohawk Valley moved into first place in the PGCBL Central on Tuesday, and currently hold a half game lead over the Watertown Rapids. Tyler Schoff (Bryant) is making his fifth start of the season for the Dawgs, and will look to pick up his third win of the season, both of which have come in shutout fashion against Elmira and Adirondack. Utica Blue Sox at Watertown Rapids Watertown will look to regain first place in the PGCBL Central after a doubleheader sweep at the hands of Adirondack on Tuesday night. Utica does hold a 3-2 lead in the season series, but the two teams have not played since June 24, an 8-4 victory for the Rapids. Utica currently sits in third place in the PGCBL Central, 3.5 games back of Mohawk Valley. Addison Pawelek (Wayne State) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Rapids, and will pitch at the Fairgrounds for the fifth consecutive time this season. Adirondack Trail Blazers at Glens Falls Dragons The 11-14 Glens Falls Dragons will welcome the 10-15 Adirondack Trail Blazers to East Field on the fifth day of July. Thursday marks the second meeting of the season between the Trail Blazers and the Dragons, with one more scheduled for July 23. Adirondack won the first game of the season, 7-4, in Boonville on June 12. Thursday's pitching matchup features Mike Sansone (Fairfield) going for the Trail Blazers, while the Dragons will counter with Mitch Guerreri (Goldey-Beacom). |
