The PGCBL returns to a full slate on Friday night, with only the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs getting the night off from league play. Five of the six games will feature intra-divisional matchups.
Friday's Scheduled Games
Albany Dutchmen at Amsterdam Mohawks
An original PGCBL rivalry is renewed for the first time in the 2018 season at Shuttleworh Park in Amsterdam. The Dutchmen currently sit in first place in the East Division, with Glens Falls, Oneonta, and Amsterdam all within one game of the top spot. The East Division series between the Mohawks and the Dutchmen will be played nine times this season, with five games coming in Amsterdam.
Adirondack Trail Blazers at Watertown Rapids
The Adirondack Trail Blazers will seek to break their six game losing streak on Friday night, travelling north to Watertown for the first time this season. The first meeting between the teams saw the Rapids, who sit in second place in the Central Division, claim a 7-2 victory back on Wednesday night. Tonight's game is the second of 12 games between the Central Division rivals.
Geneva Red Wings at Newark Pilots
Three nights after a walk-off single earned the Geneva Red Wings a walk-off win against the Newark Pilots, the West Division rivals meet for the second time of a scheduled 12, this time at Colburn Park in Newark. The Red Wings have leapt out to a 4-1 start, the third best record in the PGCBL to this point, while the Pilots have started the season on a four-game losing streak.
Utica Blue Sox at Oneonta Outlaws
The only game of the night between teams from different divisions matches the 3-2 Outlaws against the 3-3 Blue Sox in one of only two games between teams with a .500 record or better. Oneonta, who comes in to the game on a three game winning streak, and Utica will play just three times this season, with the Blue Sox's only hosting duty coming on June 18.
Saugerties Stallions at Glens Falls Dragons
Glens Falls enters Friday night's home game with the Saugerties Stallions just percentage points behind Albany for first place in the PGCBL East. Saugerties has started the season 0-6, but has yet to lose a game by more than three runs, including losses of one and two runs to the Dragons. Glens Falls holds a 2-0 series lead over Saugerties, with five more contests remaining on the schedule.
Elmira Pioneers at Jamestown Jammers
The Jamestown Jammers have posted the best record in the PGCBL through one week of play with a 5-1 mark, which ties them with Mohawk Valley. The Jammers will look to stay in first place after their third meeting of the season with the Elmira Pioneers. Jamestown has dispatched the Pioneers twice thus far this season, winning 12-3 on the road and 9-5 at home. It is the third of ten meetings between the teams this season.
