Pioneers Sign Two From Ole Miss

Elmira, N.Y. - The Elmira Pioneers are excited to announce the signings of University of Mississippi freshmen Bryan Seamster and Houston Roth.

Seamster, a 5-foot-10, 185-pound outfielder, was named a 2016 Rawlings-Perfect Game honorable mention All-American and first team Texas All-Region as a senior at Byron Nelson High School. Seamster was also tabbed a Perfect Game Third-Team Underclass All-American as a junior, was a Second-Team All-State selection, and crowned the District 5-6A MVP. So far this season, Seamster is hitting .286 with one home run in 15 games. He’ll be roaming centerfield for the Pioneers while also hitting in the middle of the order.

Roth, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound right-handed pitcher, was named a 2016 Louisville Slugger First-Team All-American while at Oxford High School in Mississippi. Roth finished his high school career with a 34-2 record and a 1.27 ERA to go along with 281 strikeouts in 219 innings, and was named an All-State honoree three times. During his senior year, Roth went 10-0 with a 0.44 ERA, including a complete-game shutout in the state championship game to help Oxford claim back-to-back state titles. In 11.0 innings this spring for Ole Miss, Roth has pitched to a pristine 1.64 ERA with 20 strikeouts. Roth is projected to be a member of the Pioneers’ starting rotation this summer.

"We are very excited to have two quality players coming from Ole Miss. We are expecting big contributions from both guys,” said Pioneers manager Brian Hill.

The Elmira Pioneers, along with the Hilliard Corporation and Elmira Business Institute, are excited to announce that former Major League pitcher Tommy John will be a special guest at the third annual Elmira Pioneers Hot Stove Dinner.

The dinner will take place on April 20 at the Holiday Inn Riverview, located at One Holiday Plaza, at 6:30 p.m. and tickets will cost $50. Tommy John will host a speaking engagement following dinner, which will end with a question and answer session. After the speaking engagement, there will be a live auction, which will include Tommy John memorabilia along with many other items, in addition to door prize giveaways. Prior to the dinner at 5:30 p.m., there will be a one hour VIP meet and greet, with tickets costing $50. The ticket includes a free item for Tommy John to autograph, personalized photo opportunities, free autographs and personalized autographs up to two items, and special door prize giveaways.

Tickets to the VIP meet and greet and the dinner and speaking engagement will be sold separately. Tickets can be purchased for either or both events by visiting the Pioneers’ front office at 546 Luce Street or calling (607) 734-2690.
