Collegiate Alumni Roundup: March 14

After a one-week hiatus, we’re back with another alumni roundup. In a week of warm weather, there were plenty of strong performances from PGCBL alumni.

As we continue to track PGCBL alumni in their collegiate seasons, this week we look at some of the top performers among 2015 alumni.

Here’s the third roundup of the season:

  • Ryan Dorow (Adirondack) went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and a double on Saturday for Adrian.
  • Hunter Boose (Albany) went 2-for-5 with a home run on Sunday for Augusta.
  • Michael Messier (Utica) picked up his second win of the season on Saturday, tossing six innings of two-run ball with five strikeouts for Bellarmine.
  • Mike Korchak (Elmira) went 2-for-4 with a home run on Saturday for Bucknell.
  • Charlie Sobieraski (Newark) tossed six scoreless innings with eight strikeouts and one walk in earning the win for Buffalo on Sunday.
  • Andrew Taft (Utica) went 4-for-5 with a double and two RBIs on Saturday for Buffalo.
  • Will LaRue (Elmira) went 4-for-5 with a stolen base on Sunday for Xavier.
  • Cole Clifton (Saugerties) homered to go along with three RBIs on Saturday for Wayne State.
  • Willy Yahn (Newark) went 4-for-6 with five RBIs, a double and a home run on Friday for UCONN.
  • Scott Manea (Amsterdam) went 2-for-5 with a home run and five RBIs on Saturday for St. Petersburg.
  • Marc Iseneker (Mohawk Valley) tossed 8.1 innings and allowed two earned runs with nine strikeouts in a loss for St. John Fisher on Saturday.
  • Malcolm Kelsey (Mohawk Valley) went 2-for-5 with a double and three RBIs on Saturday for St. John Fisher.
  • Nick Cioffi (Albany) got his first win of the season on Friday for Saint Rose as he tossed eight scoreless innings with seven strikeouts and one walk.
  • Tommy Wagner (Victor) homered on Saturday for Cornell.
  • Connor Manderson (Adirondack) went 2-for-4 with a triple, four RBIs and two walks on Monday for Cortland.
  • Tyler Brien (Mohawk Valley) picked up the win for Cortland on Monday as he tossed 2.1 scoreless innings with two strikeouts.
  • John Giakas (Saugerties) went 2-for-4 with a home run on Sunday for Fairleigh Dickinson. He also homered on Saturday.
  • Sam Machonis (Mohawk Valley) went 2-for-5 with a home run on Friday for Florida Southern.
  • Will Nichol (Newark) got his second win of the season on Friday for Hendrix as he tossed seven innings and allowed two earned runs.
  • Justin Lewis (Elmira) allowed no runs in three innings of work with four strikeouts on Friday for Kentucky to earn the win.
  • Tom Fazzini (Adirondack) notched his first save of the season on Friday for La Salle.
  • Tony Romanelli (Amsterdam) picked up the win for Marist on Saturday.
  • Tyler Kirkpatrick (Amsterdam) went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI on Saturday for Marist.
  • Clayton Spiker (Newark) tossed a complete game with no earned runs allowed on Sunday for Saginaw Valley State in his first win of the season.

Next week we’ll look back at 2014 PGCBL alumni, including Austin Clock (Newark) who went 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs on Monday for Cortland.

The PGCBL is affiliated with Perfect Game, the largest independent scouting service in the country.  Last year, more than 1,400 professional players had either worn the uniform of a PGCBL team or participated in a Perfect Game event.
