In the top of the first, Hunter Tackett hit an RBI single, Scott Manea hit a two-RBI double and Tyler Kirkpatrick hit a two-RBI single. In the home half of the inning, Colin Hawk hit an RBI double, Sam Machonis hit a two-RBI double, Andrew Turner hit a three-run home run and an RBI groundout scored the last run of the inning. A Brendan Tracy RBI single in the second got one of the runs back for the Mohawks. Macy Holdsworth hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth to tie the game at seven. In the bottom of the seventh, Colin Hawk hit his second RBI double of the game to give the DiamondDawgs the lead right back. But in the top of the ninth, Handsome Monica, who had competed in the Home Run Derby in Little Falls just two days prior, hit a two-run home run to give the Mohawks a 9-8 lead. In the bottom of the ninth, Sam Machonis tied the game with an RBI single and Andrew Turner followed with a walk-off single to give the DiamondDawgs the win. Zachary Vennaro pitched the top of the ninth inning to get the win for Mohawk Valley while Joe Nellis took the loss for Amsterdam. Glens Falls 3 Albany 1: The Glens Falls Dragons scored lone runs in three of the first four innings to defeat the Albany Dutchmen, 3-1, at East Field. A fielder’s choice scored a run in the bottom of the first to give the Dragons an early 1-0 lead, Danny Oliveri hit an RBI single in the second and Matt Kleinstein hit a solo home run in the fourth to account for the three Glens Falls runs. Albany scored its only run of the game in the top of the seventh as Dominic DiCaprio hit an RBI single. Jake Murray allowed the one Albany run over seven innings of work to pick up the win for Glens Falls. Murray allowed just four hits and walked one batter while registering three strikeouts. Robert Hardy tossed a scoreless ninth inning to notch the save for the Dragons and Jon Reid allowed the three Glens Falls runs to take the loss. Utica 13 Adirondack 1: An eight-run top of the eighth inning pulled the Utica Brewers away from the Adirondack Trail Blazers and gave the Brewers a 13-1 win in Boonville. In the top of the eighth, a bases loaded walk scored the first run, another bases loaded walk scored a run, Dominick Bregar hit a three-RBI double and Taylor Olmstead hit a three-run home run. The Brewers took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning on a Tadarious Hawkins RBI single. A Hawkins sacrifice fly in the fifth made it a 2-0 game and Dan Vucovich hit a two-run home run in the sixth to push the lead to 4-0. Adirondack scored its lone run of the game in the home half of the inning on a Ryan Dorow RBI single. Jared Baldinelli got the run back for Utica in the next half inning with a solo home run. Ryan Simpler tossed seven innings of one-run ball with six strikeouts to get the win and Jason Martin gave up the first four Utica runs to take the loss. Newark 8 Elmira 3: The Newark Pilots scored six runs in the bottom of the third inning to defeat the Elmira Pioneers, 8-3, at Colburn Park. Despite the loss, Elmira still clinched a playoff birth with Adirondack’s loss. The Pioneers scored the first run of the game in the top of the first on a Sam Clark RBI single. In the bottom of the second, Blake Valley hit a sacrifice fly, Mark Martin hit an RBI single, an RBI groundout scored a run while an error plated two and Will Gorman drove in the final run of the inning with an RBI double. An error in the fourth and a Willy Yahn RBI single in the seventh concluded Newark’s scoring. The Pioneers plated two in the top of the ninth on a Josh Lovelady RBI single and a bases loaded walk, but it wasn’t enough. Jacob Wloczewski tossed five innings of one-run ball to get the win for Newark while Tristian Widra gave up seven of the Newark runs to take the loss. Tonight’s Games: Mohawk Valley at Victor 5 p.m.: The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs and the Victor RailRiders, both in second place in their respective divisions, will face off for the final time this season on Thursday at Victor High School. The DiamondDawgs won the only matchup between the two teams this season, which came on June 16, 2-0. Utica at Adirondack 7 p.m.: A night after the Adirondack Trail Blazers got the best of the Utica Brewers at The Smith, the two teams will meet once again in Boonville on Thursday. Glens Falls at Albany 7:05 p.m.: For the second consecutive night, the Glens Falls Dragons and Albany Dutchmen will square off. Glens Falls won Wednesday’s matchup, 3-1, at East Field. Amsterdam at Saugerties 7:05 p.m.: The team with the best team in the PGCBL will travel to Saugerties to take on the Stallions, owners of the worst record. The teams are scheduled to meet two more times after Thursday’s game. Elmira at Newark 7:05 p.m.: West Division rivals Elmira and Newark will meet on Thursday after the Pilots beat the Pioneers, 8-3, at Colburn Park on Wednesday.
