Dylan Sprague carried the Saugerties Stallions (8-11) to a 5-4 victory over the Amsterdam Mohawks on Wednesday at Cantine Memorial Veterans Field with a strong game at the plate and on the mound.
Sprague was hot from the plate for the Saugerties Stallions. Sprague went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He doubled in the third innings and singled in the eighth inning.
Sprague brought the heat against the Amsterdam Mohawks (15-4) during his outing. Sprague held the Amsterdam Mohawks hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out none.
The Amsterdam Mohawks were ahead early but they ultimately surrendered the lead for good. The Amsterdam Mohawks were up until the eighth inning, but the Saugerties Stallions had other plans for the final outcome, taking the lead back on a two-run single by Clint Hardy.
The Saugerties Stallions couldn't get anything going as long as Joe Randall was pitching. Randall held the Saugerties Stallions hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out two.
Tyler Smith (2-1) took the loss for the Amsterdam Mohawks. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out two, and allowed two runs.
