Matt Brown went 2-4 as the Adirondack Trail Blazers (1-2) took home a 4-2 victory over the Newark Pilots (1-1) at Robert Smith Sports Complex on Thursday.
He singled in the third and eighth innings.
The Newark Pilots had no answer for Tyler Childrose, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Childrose gave up just two hits, allowed one earned run, walked one and struck out one during his six innings of work.
Brian Dudek paced the Newark Pilots at the plate. Dudek went 1-3 and scored two runs. He tripled in the sixth inning.
Zach Crim improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Adirondack Trail Blazers. He struck out three, walked one and surrendered one hit.
Michael Schuermann (0-1) took the loss for the Newark Pilots. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked one, struck out one, and allowed one run.
