Hawkeyes Tab Veteran Coleman To Manage Club

The Cooperstown Hawkeyes of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League has named Eric Coleman as Head Coach to lead the Hawkeyes at Doubleday Field this summer. Coleman, 36, is no stranger to the Collegiate and Independent baseball ranks having held similar positions for 14 years.

“We feel extremely fortunate to have an individual with the experience that Eric brings with him to lead the Hawkeyes and represent our community this season. His background and abilities make him a great asset to our organization, not only in terms of instructing and managing, but his extensive contacts will help us in recruiting a high level of student-athlete to play in Cooperstown.” commented team owner Tom Hickey.

For the past three seasons, Coleman has served as the Field Manager and Director of Player Development for the Oakland County Cruisers of the Frontier League (Independent). He has also managed in the Coastal Plains, Texas Collegiate, Northwoods and New England Summer Collegiate Leagues. On the collegiate level, Eric has served as the Pitching Coach at Niagara University and San Diego Mesa Junior College. During his career he has coached 10 junior college All-Americans along with 86 players that went on to sign professional contracts with Major League organizations.

“I am really excited to have this opportunity in Cooperstown. I know the entire organization is committed to making this a positive experience for both the players and fans. I’ve heard about the great support and warm welcome the guys received last season and it is my goal to build on that platform. We’ll play hard every night, have fun, and look forward to being a big part of the community,” said Coleman. “It’ll be an exciting team with a blue collar ethic and what a great experience to be able to play ball in Cooperstown. I’ve heard Doubleday Field is really a special place and I can’t wait to get there”.

The Hawkeyes enter their second season of play on Friday, June 9th at 5:00 PM. Individual game and season tickets are on sale now for the 2011 season. To purchase tickets or get more information call (607) 376-6220 or visit the Hawkeye’s new website at
