The PGCBL has named Amsterdam Mohawks Infielder Brett Coker (Middle Tennessee State) and Utica Blue Sox pitcher Evan Esch (University of St. Thomas) as the PGCBL Player and Pitcher of the Week.

Coker batted 17-for-34 in nine games for the Mohawks this week, hitting six doubles and driving in nine runs while scoring himself 10 times. On Tuesday, Coker went 4-for-4 with a double and an RBI, helping lead the Amsterdam Mohawks to a 4-2 win against the Auburn DoubleDays. Yesterday, in their doubleheader versus the Glens Falls Dragons, Coker went 4-for-6 driving in 3 runs leading the team to win both games and improving the Mohawks win streak to 5 straight. For the season, he is hitting .407 with 13 RBIs and 22 runs.

Coker, a native of Hendersonville, TN. and attends Middle Tennessee State, hit .282 with 5 home runs and 35 RBIs in 55 games for the Blue Raiders during the 2022 season.

Esch had a dominant start for the Blue Sox on Monday against the Watertown Rapids, completely shutting them out for 6 innings and striking out 10 batters. This will be his second win of the season, lowering his ERA for the season to 1.68, and striking out 18 batters over 16 innings pitched in total.

Esch hails from Woodbury, MN. and attends University of St. Thomas, where he pitched to a 5.55 ERA in 48 1/5 innings in 14 appearances. He struck out 46 hitters in those appearances.
