BOONVILLE, N.Y. - The Adirondack Trail Blazers have begun preparing for the new 2018 campaign and are excited to announce that Boonville’s own Mickey Fauvelle has joined the team as the new field manager and head coach. Fauvelle will replace Bobby McLaughlin, who has moved on to expanded duties at Coker College.

Fauvelle brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, having been a head baseball coach for the past 20-plus years at the high school and legion levels. An educator in the Adirondack School District for the past 26 years, Fauvelle was also a member of the school’s state final four baseball team in 1986. Following a collegiate baseball career at Herkimer County Community College and Division II East Stroudsburg University, Fauvelle returned to Boonville and started his teaching career.

He was named the varsity coach at the Adirondack Central School District in 2014 and in four years at the helm, Fauvelle and the Wildcats have won 74-percent of their games, two-league titles and have produced five All-Mohawk Valley Players, as selected by the Observer Dispatch.  The 2016 team was state ranked all season and claimed the first league title for the ‘Cats in 17 years.  In addition, as head coach of the Love Post Junior American Legion Team in 2016, Fauvelle led the 406’ers to their first state tournament appearance and a fourth-place finish. Fauvelle’s baseball pedigree is also tied to the late great Adirondack pitcher, Brad Meagher, who was drafted in 1975 and played three years in Milwaukee’s minor league system.

“We are extremely excited to have Mickey, his wife Rachael and his two sons, Andrew and Tyler, join the Trail Blazer family,” said the team’s president, Bobby Miller. “The fans here in Boonville are as passionate and supportive as they come, and with the addition of Mickey to our coaching staff, we are excited to build on our already loyal fan base.

Miller added, “Mickey’s passion for the game, his local ties to the community and a 26-year career coaching young athletes will warrant an immediate level of respect from our incoming players. We are extremely excited to see what the future can bring for the Blazers here in Boonville.”

The Trail Blazers will open the 2018 season on Thursday, May 31, with an exhibition game against the Capital City Reds, based out of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Adirondack opens Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) play the following day on Friday, June 1, when the Trail Blazers host the Geneva Red Wings.

The team is seeking host families for the upcoming season. Anyone interested in more information in regards to the host family program can visit the team online at or email team president Bobby Miller at
