SAUGERTIES, N.Y. - The Saugerties Stallions took on the Albany Dutchmen on Thursday. The Stallions had an early 10-2 lead after five innings but the game came down to a walk off in the bottom of the ninth inning. The Saugerties Stallions beat the Albany Dutchmen 11-10.
The Saugerties Stallions scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI single by Jack Gonzalez (Stetson) and Matt Feinstein (Dartmouth) scored the run.
In the bottom of the second inning Tyler Kelder (St. Bonaventure) hit a scorching double to the right field wall. Sam Russo (Butler) was able to bring Kelder home on his first of three RBIs on the night.
To lead off the inning Jack Gonzalez hit the first home run for the Stallions at Cantine Field this season. Sam Russo drove in two more runs this inning, that being both Andrew Taft (Buffalo) and Tyler Kelder.
The Stallions took a commanding 10-2 lead after five innings but the Dutchmen were able to tie up the game. In the bottom of the ninth inning the Dutchmen’s Chris Villa (Seton Hall) hit a game tying solo home run with 2 outs in the top of the ninth inning.
With one out in the bottom of the ninth inning Nick Campana (Hartford) reach first base on an E4. Luke Pettersen (Minnesota) hits a single and as the throw was coming into third base the base there was an error on the throw which led to Nick Campana scoring the game winning run in the bottom of the 9th inning.
Saugerties’ Matt Pushard (Maine) picked up the win for the Stallions. With that win the Stallions record improves to 12-9 while they are enjoying a two game winning streak.
Saugerties’ next game is June 30th at Oneonta at 5:05 PM.
