SAUGERTIES, N.Y. - On Wednesday night the Saugerties Stallions ended their four-game losing streak by defeating the visiting Glens Falls Dragons by a score of 8-7 at Cantine Field on Wednesday night.
The Stallions began the game off by scoring a quick 3 runs. Nick Campana (Hartford) led off the inning with a walk. That was followed up by Luke Pettersen (Minnesota) and Matt Feinstein (Dartmouth) both hitting singles. Campana, Petteren and Feinstein all stole 2nd base. Nick Campana also stole home on a delayed double steal after Pettersen took 2nd base. Both Jack Gonzalez (Stetson) and Andrew Taft (UBuffalo) each had and RBI Sac Fly.
In the bottom of the 3rd, Matt Feinstein hit a double. Andrew Taft was able to drive him in with an RBI single.
The Stallions offense came back alive in the bottom of the 7th when Tyler Kelder (St. Bonaventure) hit a 3 RBI double to the fence with the bases loaded to give the Stallions a 7-6 lead.
After the Dragons tied up the game in the top of the 8th inning, the Stallions came out looking to score quickly. Nick Campana led off the inning with a walk. Luke Peterson then layed down a bunt. There was a throwing error on the Dragons’ pitcher on the play. Luke Pettersen ended up on 3rd and Nick Campana was thrown out at the plate. Jack Gonzalez hit an RBI single to give the Stallions an 8-7 lead.
With that win the Stallion ended their 4 game losing streak and improved to an 11-9 record. Kevin Napoleon (Butler) recorded the win for the Stallions and Matt Pushard got the save. The Stallions next game is Thursday June 29th vs the Albany Dutchmen at 7PM.
