JAMESTOWN, N.Y. - The Jammers were ranked ninth in the Summer Collegiate Baseball Top 30 poll and validated their ranking tonight, as the Jammers defeat the Newark Pilots 9-3 and improved to 12-4 on the season.
The Jammers took an early lead and never gave it up. In the bottom of the first the Jammers' offense got things started, as they scored two runs on two hits including an RBI single by Chris Estrada (UTSA).
The second inning was more of the same, as the Jammers continued their offensive output by adding two more runs with the lone hit by Christ Conley (Canisius) that drove in the first run. Ben Brookover (UTSA) drove in the secon run of the inning with a sacrifice fly. After two complete innings, the Jammers led 4-0 over the Pilots.
The Pilots answered back in the top of the third as they scored three runs on two hits and three walks, which made it a one-run game. The score would stay 4-3 until the bottom of the sixth as the Jammers put the game out of reach by plating five runs on four hits, with a huge RBI double by Ben Brookover (UTSA).
After the Jammers big inning made it 9-3, that would end up being the final score. Jamestown is maintained its lead in the West Division by improving to 12-4 on the season and 4-0 against the Newark Pilots.
