ONEONTA, N.Y. - The Oneonta Outlaws were defeated 13-0 by the Onondaga Flames on Thursday night at Damaschke Field.
Jake Hershman (Wofford College) (0-2) started on the mound for the Outlaws; the sophomore pitcher would get touched early in the game when Gage Lanning (Canisius College) would lead off the second inning with a triple and later score on a fielder’s choice. The Flames would add on another six runs on seven hits before Hershmen would be relieved by sophomore Josh Winkler (Northeastern) in the fifth.
The Outlaws tried to get some momentum going heading into the bottom of the sixth when Aron Fried (Quinnipiac University) lead the inning off with a walk. Chandler Engels (USC Sumter) then hit a double putting runners in scoring position. Ryan Greco (SUNY Brockport) would manage to get the Flames out of the inning without allowing any damage on a strikeout, and two fielder’s choice.
Winkler and Jason Wasilnak (St. John Fisher College) would both go two innings and combine for 3 runs on 5 hits in four innings of work. Zach Kemp (Wells College) would relieve Ryan Greco in the bottom of the eighth and would allow zero runs on no hits in two innings of work. The Flames would score three runs in the top of the ninth off Ben Rhodes (Siena College) to seal the victory in Oneonta.
The Outlaws will be back in action tomorrow as they host the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs at 7pm.
