GLENS FALLS, N.Y. - The Glens Falls Dragons (5-10) came up short Wednesday night at home, falling 8-3 to the Oneonta Outlaws (5-10).
The nights scoring commenced early in the third inning, where Outlaws Stone Pellegrino (Wofford) and Ben Dubas (Alvernia) both doubled to bring in three runners.
The Dragons responded later in the third after a pair of RBIs from Mark Powell (St. Rose) and Anthony Vaglica (LIU Post) allowed Brandon Torres (Oneonta) and Brian Uliana (Rider) to cross the plate for Glens Falls, narrowing the score to 3-2 at the end of the inning.
Oneonta added to their lead early in the sixth, after a double and single both allowed a runner in. With a score of 5-2 Outlaws, Glens Falls introduced pitcher Brandon Budlong to replace starter Andrew Aikins.
The Dragons attempted a comeback late in the sixth, starting with a walk on Alex Phillips (Bellarmine) to load the bases. Glens Falls notched a run after a double by Jared Drizin (Bucknell) and a wild throw to home plate allowed Vaglica to score.
The score remained 6-3 until early in the eighth inning, where Outlaw Ben Rhodes (Siena) tallied an RBI single, and Matt Tsukroff (Binghamton) fired off a two-run homerun. The inning ended with the Outlaws leading 8-3, and that would end up being the final margin of victory.
The winning pitcher was Michael White (Stonehill), and the losing pitcher was Andrew Aikins.
Dragons return to East Field on Friday for a double-header versus the Albany Dutchmen.
