NEWARK, N.Y. – The Newark Pilots (2-9) and Onondaga Flames (6-5) Father’s Day Matchup has been suspended due to rain with the Pilots leading 5-2 in the bottom of the fourth.
Will Frank (Canisius) allowed just one hit, and two unearned runs, striking out 5 in four innings for Newark. Jake Binder (Ithaca) has given up 5 runs (4 earned), on 6 hits, striking out two.
The Flames started off the scoring in the top of the third on a bases loaded infield single from Trey Baur (Cornell), their first hit of the night. The added their second on a passed ball. The Pilots answered in the bottom half with a two out, two run home run off the bat of John Balliet (Orange Coast CC), his first of the summer.
Frank retired the Flames in order in the top of the fourth, then got help from his offense in the bottom half. Tanner Huddleston (Jones County JC) drove in a run to start the scoring. Over Torres (Yavapai CC) then drove Huddleston in with a single. Jonathan Parker (Jones County JC) scored the fifth run of the game on a throwing error from Flames Shortstop Wyatt Myers (Buffalo).
The game was suspended after a Graham Hackbarth fielder’s choice in the bottom of the fourth, with one out in the inning and the Pilots leading 5-2. There is no word yet if the game is going to be resumed or restarted.
The Pilots will host the Geneva Red Wings at Colburn Park tomorrow night at 7:05. Onondaga Flames will be at Mohawk Valley tomorrow night.
