SAUGERTIES, N.Y. - On Saturday night, the Sugerties Stallions took on the Oneonta Outlaws in a back-and-forth battle at Cantine Field.
The Stallions started by scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Pat Lagravinese (UAlbany) and Luke Petterson (Minnesota) both singled to open the inning and would go on to score on a double by first baseman Jack Gonzalez (Stetson). Nick Teitter (St. Rose) would answer again in the inning for Saugerties with a 2RBI single to give the Stallions a four run lead.
Oneonta would come back in the top of the second inning to make the score 4-1.
The Stallions added to their lead in the bottom of the third inning by plating a run, making the score 5-1. In the top of the fifth inning, Oneonta came back to score two runs but Teitter made an amazing play to throw of the runner coming to the plate to stop an Outlaws rally.
Oneonta came to score another run in the top of the sixth, to trail by one. Kelly Killeen (Franklin Pierce) came in to pitch the top of the eight for the Stallions and ended up allowing the Outlaws to score three runs and take their first lead of the night at 7-5.
Sam Russo (Butler) led the charge for Saugerties in the bottom half of the inning. Russo had an RBI double. Gonzalez came back to the plate and hit a 2RBI double to give the Stallions the lead at 9-7. Tyler Kelder (St. Bonaventure) added another run for the Stallions to make the lead 10-7.
Oneonta would come back in the top of the ninth to score another run, put their rally fell short as the Stallions would go on to win 10-8.
The Stallions play their next game on Monday, June 19 against the Oneonta Outlaws.
