GLENS FALLS, N.Y. - The Glens Falls Dragons (4-6) battled back after an unfavorable trip on the road, snapping a three-game losing streak Thursday night at home after defeating the Utica Blue Sox (3-8) 6-3.
The Dragons pioneered the night’s scoring in the bottom of the fourth, where Nick Jacques (Le Moyne) and Brendon Frank (St. Lawrence) each drove in two runs, making the score 4-0 Glens Falls.
The following inning, the Dragons increased their lead to 6-0 after Phoenix Hernandez (Southern NH) and Jared Drizin (Bucknell) each brought in a runner.
The Blue Sox responded and got on the board early in the sixth inning, starting with a single from Taylor Olmstead (Southern NH) to load the bases. Cole Pursell (Willamette) took advantage of the situation, notching a single to bring in two runs. The following batter, Zane Harris (Wright St.), also brought in a run, narrowing the Dragons lead to 6-3
The winning pitcher was James Varela (LIU Post) (1-1), who pitched for 8 innings, where he scattered 7 hits, gave up 3 runs, all earned, struck out 6, and walked 1, and the losing pitcher was Brent Kissinger (North Park) (0-2).
Dragons return to East Field on Sunday, June 18th to take on the Amsterdam Mohawks. The first pitch is set for 7PM.
