UTICA, N.Y. - The Oneonta Outlaws came back from a four-run deficit to hand the Utica Blue Sox their sixth straight loss, beating them 11-10 on Tuesday night.
The Outlaws outhit the Blue Sox 11-8, but the errors defensively continue to be the problem for Utica as they had four in this game alone. The Outlaws now have won two straight with the win after losing their first seven games of the season.
Utica took an 8-4 lead and put up a seven spot in the fifth thanks in large part to Justin Taveras’ grand slam. Then the Sox would add two more in the sixth to keep their lead at four runs leading 10-6. However, the Outlaws would storm back scoring three runs in the eighth and two in the ninth including the go ahead run. Utica couldn’t muster anything in the bottom of the ninth and they dropped their sixth straight game after starting the season 3-0.
Cal Lawrence got the win for Oneonta going two innings of shutout ball in the eighth and ninth innings. Riley Moore was booked with the loss for Utica giving up three runs in the final two innings of the contest.
With the win the Outlaws move to 2-7 on the season, they head to Onondaga to face the Flames on Wednesday at 7:00PM.
With the loss Utica falls to 3-6 on the season, they are back at home again on Wednesday night at 6:35PM as they take on Albany.
