SAUGERTIES, N.Y. - Drew Farkas (Hartford) started the game for the Saugerties Stallions and was commanding the Glens Falls Dragons early on Tuesday, June 13 at Cantine field, as the Stallions earned a 9-4 victory.
The scoring came quick for Saugerties, quickly powering their way to a three run lead in the bottom of the first inning. Matt Feinstein (Darthmouth) tripled off the right field wall to score Nick Campana (Hartford) from second base. Two batters later, Andrew Taft (Buffalo) launched a double off the left field wall, scoring Feinstein. Connor Powers (UAlbany) would go on to single up the middle to score Taft.
The Glens Falls Dragons trailed 3-0 heading into the top of the fourth and used an RBI fielder’s choice and then a 3-run home run from Phoenix Hernandez (Southern New Hampshire) to take the lead by one.
The Stallions would quickly answer back and score off a Feinstein RBI single to tie the score at four. Stallion’s pitcher John Clayton (UAlbany) came in to pitch and shut down the Dragons, along with the rest of the bullpen.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Saugerties took the lead and never looked back scoring two runs to make the lead 6-4.
The Stallions would add to their lead more in the sixth inning off of the Dragons miscues and scored three more runs, finishing the lead at 9-4.
The Stallions look to add to their two game win streak and play their next game on Wednesday, June 14 against the Elmira Pioneers at home.
