BOONVILLE, N.Y. – The Elmira Pioneers (4-3) gave up five runs in the 4th inning and could never recover, eventually falling to the Adirondack Trail Blazers (4-3) 8-5.

Jackson Tedder (Virginia) gave up an early run in the first after he walked home a run, but Elmira would respond with three runs in the top of the 2nd. Brett Rodriguez (Wofford) hit an RBI single to score Brett Vosik (Kansas) for the first run, and then an error by the first baseman Bailey Collins (Concordia University) on a ball hit by Bryan Seamster (Ole Miss) scored the second run of the frame. Blake Shinkle (Kansas) followed him up with an RBI single of his own to make the score 3-1.

Adirondack would plate five runs in the 4th inning to take a lead they would never relinquish. Tedder walked the bases loaded, and then proceeded to walk home a run to make the score 4-2. John Michael Boswell (Furman) laced a bases clearing double that would push the score to 5-4. Matt Codispoti (Albany) proceeded to score him with an RBI double of his own to make the score 6-4.

Boswell would strike again in the 6th, hitting another RBI double to give the Trail Blazers their seventh run of the game.

The Trail Blazers would tack on an insurance run in the 8th for good measure, as an Andrew Orzel (Wofford) allowed Tyler Bruno (Iona) to score.

The Pioneers would try to mount a rally in the 9th, as Blake Shinkle was able to get one back with an RBI single, but the rally would come up short and the Pioneers would fall 8-5.

Jake Walker (Rhode Island) worked five innings of four run ball to pick up the win for Adirondack. Jackson Tedder picks up his first loss of the season after going four innings and allowing six runs. Zach Zientarski (Pittsburgh) picked up the six-out save to seal the victory.

Elmira will back in action tomorrow night, Saturday, June 10th, against the Geneva Red Wings at Dunn Field.
