SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Onondaga Flames (2-3) hosted a Jamestown Jammers (4-2) team that came to town after winning back-to-back games against Newark at home. The Jammers jumped out to a quick lead in the first inning as they brought home four runs on five hits against Onondaga starter Chase Hagerty (SEMO). That proved to be all the offense the Jammers needed as they cruised to a 7-1 victory over their hosts.
In that first inning Jamestown got RBI hits from Chris Conley (Canisius), Alex O’Donnell (Mercyhurst), and Casey Vincent (St. Bonnaventure) as the Jammers sent eight of their nine starters to the plate.
Onondaga responded quickly as Camillo Spinoso (LeMoyne) scored on Gage Lanning’s (Canisius) third triple of the season. Hagerty settled in for the second inning but a Conley double in the third, his second of the game, was trouble as he later scored on a Matt Cross (Niagara County C.C.) single. Conley ended the game 2-2 with two runs scored, two doubles and three walks.
Hagerty was pulled after the fifth inning and finished the day with five strikeouts while allowing five earned runs on seven hits. The bullpen combination of Evan Reichel (St. Lawerence) and Ryan Marketell (Monroe C.C.) finished the game allowing 2 more runs in four innings. Marketell came on in the seventh with the bases loaded and no outs and managed to only allow one run to cross the plate.
The Flames struggled to things going all game as Jamestown starter David Lyskawa (Niagara County C.C.) pitched seven innings and struck out nine batters while only allowing one run in the first.
Onondaga falls to 2-5 and will travel to Newark on Saturday.
