Saugerties, N.Y. - The Saugerties Stallions overcame an error filled game, nine total errors between both teams, to earn the victory for their second straight win, and move to 2-2 on the season.
The Stallions trailed the Blue Sox after the first half inning and would go on to score two runs, capitalizing on an error by Blue Sox shortstop, Gus Cunningham (Ohio University).
Stallions starting pitcher, Matt Jones (Manhattan College) had an up and down day on the mound throwing 12 strikeouts with four walks, in three innings of work. Jack Gonzalez (Stetson University) led the charge for the Stallions, going 4-4 at the plate with one RBI and a walk.
Saugerties would continue to fight back and go on to tie the game at seven in the bottom of the sixth inning. Stallions center fielder Nick Campana (Hartford) struggled all night at the plate but rose to the occasion with a runner on base, smashing a triple of the left field fence to score Matt Pushard (Maine).
The Stallions would go on to add to their lead in the bottom of the eight on throwing errors to score two more runs pushing their lead to three.
Kelly Killeen (Franklin Pierce) and Mark Meyer (Marshall) both threw an inning in relief not allowing a run, Killeen pitched the ninth and secured the win for the Stallions.
The Stallions play next on Friday, June 9 at the Glens Falls Dragons.
