With the Cleveland Indians advancing to the World Series against the Chicago Cubs, two former Amsterdam Mohawks players are looking to win a World Series as part of the Indians staff. If they do, it will mark the third straight year that a former Mohawk has won a World Series title.
As part of the current Indians staff, 2008 and 2010 Mohawks infielder Ricky Pacione (Marist) is the bullpen catcher while 1993 Mohawks catcher Matt Quatraro (Old Dominion) serves as the assistant Hitting Coach.
In the 2014 World Series, 2002 Mohawks outfielder Hunter Pence (Texas-Arlington) won the title as an outfielder for the San Francisco Giants. In 2015, former 1994 Mohawk pitcher Ryan Stoneberg (Arizona) won the World Series as part of the Kansas City Royals organization. Ryan is the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Royals.
On a side note, the Mohawks are actually gauranteed of having a 'Mohawk' win the World Series this year. Longtime Director of Media Relations and Graphic Artist, Jon Sargalis is currently employed by the Cubs and works in their Customer Relations Department.
