RailRiders can't hold off Pioneers

The Victor Railriders (9-7) were unable to hold off the first-place Elmira Pioneers (11-4) as they lost 6-5 at Dunn Field on Saturday.  The Railriders were winning through the first four innings, but then surrendered the lead, allowing a total of three runs in the fifth and sixth innings. The Railriders scored a run in the ninth off a Troy Dixon error, but Cody Thompson was able to retire the next two batters to complete the save for the Pioneers.
Brian Reed took the loss on the mound for the Railriders.  He pitched 5 2/3 innings and allowed 6 runs.  Going into the game Reed had not allowed a run in his previous five appearances.  Dylan Crutcher finished 2-4 at the plate in the losing effort.
Tyler Plantier collected three hits for the Pioneers, including a triple in the third inning.  Kyle Stuart earned his first win on the year, striking out one and allowing just one hit in two innings of work.
