The Victor Railriders (9-6) mounted a huge come-from-behind win to defeat the Newark Pilots (9-7) in 10 innings of play at Victor High School on Friday. The Railriders were down 9-2 heading into the eighth inning, and then scored seven straight runs to tie the game. In the bottom of the tenth, Dylan Cruther hit a walk-off single to score Eddie Tammarobring and complete the comeback.
Cruther finished the day 2-4, driving in one and scoring one. Nick Russo also had a hot bat going 3-5, with one of the key hits in extra innings. The two teams combined for 19 runs and 21 hits in the high scoring affair.
It was pitching by committee, as there were 10 pitchers used in the game. Evan Fernandez recorded his first win on the year for the Victor Railriders, striking out two and allowing no hits. Loukas Bechakas finished on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He pitched 2 1/3 innings, allowing only one run for the Pilots.
