The Glens Falls Dragons entered Friday night's game at East Field looking to snap a four game losing streak as they faced their local rival the Albany Dutchmen. Both team's hitters would have to attempt to keep up with the Joneses as the Dragons sent Joe Jones (Maryville) to the bump to face off against Cooper Jones (Southern Mississippi) of Albany. The Dutchmen scored five runs in the second and went on to cruise past the Dragons 7-1. It was the fifth straight defeat for Glens Falls.
Albany struck first in the top of the second. Brent Alford (Augusta) and Dillin Diehm (Indiana State) hit back to back singles to start the rally. The Dutchmen got RBI singles from Jack Gethings (Fairfield) and Cole Malloy (Butler) to take a 2-0 lead. Albany would then load the bases and Justin Childers (Ohio Dominican) would smack a double that one hopped off the left field wall, scoring three runs to make it 5-0 Dutchmen.
Glens Falls got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth. Robbie Knightes (St. Johns) led off the frame with a walk and came around to score when Nate Cardy (Gannon) ripped a one out double that caromed off of the wall in left-center field to bring the Dragons within 5-1 and chase Albany reliever Jackson Bubala (Dartmouth).
The Dutchmen scored two runs in the eighth off of Glens Falls reliever Triston Hubler (Oklahoma Panhandle) to increase their lead to 7-1. One run scored on a Glens Falls throwing error, while Cole Molloy picked up an RBI on the other.
Childers was 2 for 3 for the Dutchmen with three RBIs. Molloy, Diehm, and Jon Skidmore (Dallas Baptist) had two hits each for Albany.
Cardy was 2 for 3 to lead the Dragons.
Jones had an effective start for Albany, giving up just one hit and no runs in three innings of work.
Bubala (1-2) was credited with the win for the Dutchmen. Jones (1-1) took the loss for Glens Falls.
Albany raises their record to 7-5 on the season. Glens Falls drops to 2-11.
