The Adirondack Trail Blazers took revenge over the Saugerties Stallions at home 17-2 after a 2-1 loss in Saugerties on June 4.
The Blazers opened the flood gates in the second inning with a solo home run from Mark Venice. With the next three batters reaching base, Kenny Collins launched a 3-1 pitch over the wall for a grand slam, his first home run of the season, and giving Adirondack a 4-0 lead. After a full round of the order, Venice would once again take his place at the plate and hit a two-run home run, his second pf the inning.
Saugerties was quiet at the plate overall, tallying just seven hits, but were able to pick up two runs off an RBI single for Caleb Kerbs and a sacrifice fly by Vince Lakes Jr. Andy Karlan and Micah Riddick were the respective scorers.
Adirondack’s pitching also held the Stallions at bay, with a total of eight strikeouts recorded and only two errors. Reliever Don McWreath retired 10 batters in three innings pitched with a possible minimum of nine to face during that time. Starter Josh Partridge picked up his first win of the season.
Saugerties has Thursday off while Adirondack visits the Victor RailRiders. The Stallions and Blazers will have a rematch in Boonville on Friday.
