The Newark Pilots scored runs by the bunches on Thursday night during there route of the then 3-2 Geneva Red Wings. Skyler Defer (Northeast Miss C.C.) was tremendous on the mound for Newark, throwing seven strong innings of shutout baseball before Geneva finally got to the Newark Bullpen.
The Pilots also tallied double digit hits against a Red Wings club that committed six errors on the evening and left several runners in scoring position offensively. Greg Cullen, (Niagara University) the Pilots shortstop was on base three times throughout the night and kept the pressure on the Geneva defense with two stolen bases that resulted in Newark runs. With the win, Newark improved to 5-2 on the season and takes a 2-1 season series lead over their new rivals in Geneva.
For the Red Wings, its there second loss in as many games as they fall to 3-3 on the season after a 3-1 start. Geneva will hit the road tomorrow for a clash with Oneonta before coming home on Saturday to complete the home and home series against the Outlaws.
