The Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League unveiled its 2017 regular-season schedule Wednesday, and it includes one less than planned.
The Victor RailRiders’ franchise has elected to be placed under voluntary suspension for the upcoming campaign, the result of their new stadium not having been built as yet.
“The RailRiders informed the league that approvals from the Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have been delayed, and construction of the stadium at the Pinnacle Athletic Complex will not be completed by the 2017 season,” PGCBL President Jeff Kunion stated. “We authorized the RailRiders to play at Victor High School as a temporary measure, but the field at Victor High School does not meet league standards and is not an acceptable long-term venue.
“We look forward to the day the RailRiders are back on the field.”
As a result, the West Division will be reduced to six teams in 2017: the Adirondack Trail Blazers, Elmira Pioneers, Geneva Red Wings, Jamestown Jammers, Newark Pilots and Onondaga Flames.
