Friday's Scheduled Games
Newark Pilots at Jamestown Jammers
Diethrick Park - DH - 5:00 PM
The Jamestown Jammers could clinch the top seed in the PGCBL Playoffs on Friday night, but would need to sweep the Newark Pilots to do it. The Jammers would also need the Amsterdam Mohawks to lose in Glens Falls. After a 14-7 victory over the Elmira Pioneers, Newark moved within just one game of third place in the West. Jamestown has won six of the eight games between the teams this season. The doubleheader is making up the scheduled game from Monday that was rained out in Newark.
Utica Blue Sox at Albany Dutchmen
Connors Park - 5:05 PM
With a victory or a loss by the Saugerties Stallions, the Albany Dutchmen would clinch a spot in the PGCBL Playoffs for the sixth consecutive season. Albany has not been left out of the postseason since 2012. The Utica Blue Sox enter Friday night a half game up on the Watertown Rapids for second place in the Central. In the first meeting of the season between the teams, the Dutchmen throttled Utica 11-2 at Murnane Field, scoring seven runs in the final two innings before a 4-for-6 with four RBI performance from Golston Gillespie (Ole Miss).
Saugerties Stallions at Oneonta Outlaws
Damaschke Field - 7:05 PM
Saugerties has gone cold at the worst possible time, losing four consecutive games to fall four back of Albany for second in the East with just five to play. The Stallions' playoff hopes may rest upon Amsterdam claiming the top overall seed, much as the hopes of the Oneonta Outlaws do. Oneonta sits 3.5 games behind Saugerties for third, within striking distance should a playoff spot open up. Friday night's game serves as the decisive game in the season series, as both teams have won four times this season.
Watertown Rapids at Geneva Red Wings
McDonough Park - 7:05 PM
Friday's matchup at McDonough Park is crucial for both teams, who are in the hunt for second place in their respective divisions. Watertown moved within a half game of Utica for second in the PGCBL Central with a victory over the Blue Sox on Thursday night, while the Red Wings hold a two game lead over the Elmira Pioneers for second place in the West Division. The Rapids lead the season series 3-1 over the Red Wings, but Geneva won the most recent meeting, a 6-5 home win on June 29.
Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs at Elmira Pioneers
Dunn Field - 7:05 PM
The Central Division is there for the taking for the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs, who could seal the title with a win and losses by Watertown and Utica. The Dawgs would clinch a playoff spot with a win and a loss by either Watertown or Utica. The game also holds supreme importance for the Pioneers, who trail the Geneva Red Wings by two games and lead the Newark Pilots by one in the PGCBL West. Mohawk Valley won the only other matchup this season by taking a 4-1 decision on June 11 in Little Falls.
Amsterdam Mohawks at Glens Falls Dragons
East Field - 7:05 PM
After rallying for a 5-3 victory over Oneonta on Thursday, the Amsterdam Mohawks will look to move closer to the PGCBL East title on the road. The Mohawks hold a 2.5 game lead over Albany in the division, but are two games behind Jamestown in the race for the top overall seed and a first round bye in the PGCBL Playoffs. Amsterdam has won four consecutive games against the Dragons to take a 6-4 overall lead in the season series entering the final meeting of the season.
