FULL LIST OF SELECTED PLAYERS

The 2018 Major League Baseball Draft came to an end on Wednesday evening, following 40 rounds of the best amateur baseball talent in North America. Once again, nearly 40 PGCBL alumni or current players were selected by a Major League franchise. This season, 38 players, representing eleven PGCBL teams, found a home in professional baseball.

For the second year in a row, eleven Amsterdam Mohawks were picked up, leading all PGCBL teams. The Mohawk contingent was led by a pair of first round competitive balance picks in Lenny Torres, Jr. (St. John's) and Griffin Roberts (Wake Forest). Torres, who was signed to play for the Mohawks this season, was picked 41st by the Indians, and Roberts, a Wake Forest product, was selected 43rd by the Cardinals.

The Elmira Pioneers followed with seven overall selections, including second round pick Sean Hjelle (Kentucky), who had a standout season at Kentucky. The Jamestown Jammers and Newark Pilots each had five players picked, while the Albany Dutchmen had four.

The Pittsburgh Pirates selected the most PGCBL players, picking four throughout the 40-round draft. Pittsburgh selected four Amsterdam Mohawks - Brett Kinneman (NC State) in the seventh, Nick Patten (Delaware) in the 28th, signee Jack Herman (Maryland) in the 30th, and Jake Mielock (Colorado Mesa) in the 40th. All in all, 19 of the 30 MLB franchises selected at least one player with a PGCBL connection.
