Here’s a look back at the scores from around the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) on Tuesday, June 20:

Amsterdam (8-6) 4, Mohawk Valley (8-6) 3 (Game 1)
The Mohawks began their sweep of the DiamondDawgs on Tuesday with a slim 4-3 victory at Veteran’s Memorial Park. TJ Collett (Kentucky) homered in the top of the first to give Amsterdam an early 2-0 lead, but Mohawk Valley responded with the next three runs to pull ahead 3-2. Austin Pollack (Hofstra) drove in a run with a double and later scored on an RBI single to level the score, and a costly two-out Amsterdam error gave the Dawgs the lead. However, the Mohawks tied the game with a run in the fourth and took the lead on a Liam Wilson (Canisius) sac fly in the fifth.

Amsterdam 4, Mohawk Valley 0 (Game 2)
The two teams played to a scoreless draw in the first four innings, but the visitors broke the tie with a three-run fifth inning. A two-run double in the fifth off the bat of John Valente (St. John’s) opened the scoring for Amsterdam. The Mohawks only needed one of those runs, however, as Mathieu Gauthier (N.C. State) and Elliot Anderson (Auburn) combined for a shutout in seven two-hit innings. Gauthier picked up the win with six scoreless innings and five strikeouts in his debut with the Mohawks.

Albany (10-3) 10, Glens Falls (5-9) 0
The East Division-leading Dutchmen cruised to a shutout win over the visiting Dragons at Siena Field on Tuesday. On the mound, Albany’s Matt Pierce (Siena) hurled 6.0 shutout innings with two strikeouts, as he improved to 3-0 with a 1.76 ERA in his first start of the summer. Out of the bullpen, Mike Pepio (East Stroudsburg) notched a three-inning save with five punch outs. Chase Allen (Limestone) added an exclamation point to the end of the game with a three-run homer in the bottom of the eight.

Geneva (10-6) 4, Jamestown (11-3) 3
In a battle between two of the top teams in the West Division, the Red Wings edged the Jammers at McDonough Park. With a 10-6 overall record, Geneva has already surpassed last season’s win total. For the second time this summer, Alex Bellardini (Youngstown State) has lasted eight full innings, this time surrendered just two runs on nine hits with four strikeouts while improving his record to 3-0 with a 2.17 ERA. Jamestown pushed across one run in the top of the eighth and came within one in the ninth, but Colby Mullins (Andrew) fanned Alex O’Donnell (Mercyhurst) with the bases loaded in the ninth to secure the win.

Oneonta (4-10) 8, Elmira (6-9) 5
While both teams combined for 10 errors on Tuesday night, the Outlaws overcame their sloppy defense to defeat the Pios, 8-5, at Damaschke Field. Elmira pulled ahead 5-1 with a four-spot in the top of the fifth inning, but Oneonta responded by scoring two runs in the sixth, three in the seventh, and two more in the eighth. Four of the runs in the late innings were forced home on bases-loaded walks, as an erratic Elmira pitching staff handed out nine total free passes. Ben Rhodes (Siena) led all batters by going 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs, while Nathan Wrighter (Bryant) got the win after giving up five runs (one earned) in seven innings.
