Hundreds of thousands of people in upstate New York were treated to high-caliber baseball this summer.

A total of 243,586 fans saw some of the top collegiate players in the country play this summer in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League. The total is a new PGCBL record and as the league continues to expands, it expects attendance to keep going up as well.

The Elmira Pioneers, who won their second straight West Division regular season title, topped the attendance marks with 84,600 people coming through the turnstiles of historic Dunn Field. The average of 3,384 people was the third highest in all of summer collegiate baseball.

The Oneonta Outlaws, Amsterdam Mohawks and Newark Pilots each drew more than 20,000 people.

On the national scale, PGCBL teams fared incredibly well. Six teams were in the top 100 in average attendance and Utica placed just outside the top 100 at No. 103.

"Our fan base keeps growing not just because there are so many talented players in the league but, because our owners put on a great show, with fun on field contests and entertainment, family oriented promotions, fireworks shows and quality food concessions. They place an emphasis on affordability and family fun. Customer service is always a priority and our players are accessible at the stadium and involved in the community. The credit goes to our owners, general managers and their staffs,” said PGCBL President Jeff Kunion.

The league’s total 2015 attendance was 205,273.

The PGCBL is affiliated with Perfect Game, the nation's largest independent scouting service. Its alumni include more than 1,500 PGCBL/PG participants who were either drafted by MLB or played professional baseball.
