Last Night’s Games: Amsterdam 8 Oneonta 1
The Amsterdam Mohawks advanced to the East Division Championship Series with an 8-1 win over the Oneonta Outlaws at Shuttleworth Park. Nick Patten gave the Mohawks an early lead with an RBI single in the first inning. The Mohawks added two more in the third inning on a Joe Genord RBI double and a Tristen Carranza RBI single. Amsterdam extended the lead in the sixth on an error and an Andruw Gazzola two-run double. Each team scored a lone run in the seventh before Amsterdam scored the game’s final run in the eighth inning. Cameron Enck, who set a PGCBL record with a 0.39 ERA this season, tossed seven innings of one-run ball to earn the win for the Mohawks. Josh Covey took the loss for Oneonta. Albany 2 Mohawk Valley 1 It took 11 innings but the Albany Dutchmen beat the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs, 2-1, to advance to the East Division Championship Series and eliminate the defending PGCBL champions. An RBI groundout in the third inning gave the Dutchmen a 1-0 lead but a Kevin Radziewicz RBI single in the sixth tied the game at one. The game remained tied at one until the eleventh inning when Kyle Skeels drove in Jack Gethings with a sacrifice fly on a close play at home to give the Dutchmen the win. Nate Harris tossed three shutout innings of relief to earn the win for Albany while Zachary Vennaro took the loss for Mohawk Valley. Utica 3 Elmira 0
The Utica Blue Sox took a 1-0 lead in the West Division Championship Series with a 3-0 win over the Elmira Pioneers on the road. Utica took a 1-0 lead in the fifth inning on a Franklin Jennings RBI single. A Taylor Olmstead RBI single in the seventh and another Jennings RBI single in the ninth made it a 3-0 game. Craig Prince struck out seven over eight shutout innings to earn the win for Utica as Ryan Green notched the save. Spencer Kulman took the loss for Elmira.
Tonight’s Games: East: No. 2 Albany at No. 1 Amsterdam 6:35 p.m.
West: No. 1 Elmira at No. 2 Utica 6:35 p.m.
Playoffs: The higher seed in each divisional championship round hosts games one and three while the lower seed hosts game two. The winners of the best-of-three league championship series will meet in the PGCBL Championship Series. In the PGCBL Championship Series, the lower seed—based on regular season record—will host game one, while the higher seed will host games two and three.
