Adirondack 2 Elmira 1
The Adirondack Trail Blazers broke a 1-1 tie in the eighth inning to beat the Elmira Pioneers, 2-1, at Dunn Field.
Adirondack scored the game’s first run in the third inning on a Chuck Hooker RBI double but Elmira tied it in the home half on an error. Then in the eighth, Hooker hit a sacrifice fly to put the Trail Blazers up, 2-1.
Jesse Slinger struck out six over seven innings of one-run ball to earn the win as Don McWreath notched the save. Elliot Lance took the loss for Elmira.
Albany at Amsterdam
The game was canceled.
Jamestown 4 Geneva 1
The Jamestown Jammers sealed the No. 3 seed in the West with a 4-1 win over the Geneva Red Wings at home.
The Jammers took a 2-0 lead in the second inning on a Chas Hadden RBI single and a groundout. Geneva scored its lone run in the fifth inning before the Jammers scored lone runs in the seventh and eighth innings to add some insurance.
Matthew Franco allowed just the one run over seven innings to earn the win for Jamestown as Trevor Simon notched the save. Will Nahmens took the loss for Geneva.
Mohawk Valley at Glens Falls (DH)
The doubleheader was canceled.
Newark 9 Utica 5
The Newark Pilots got out to an early lead and beat the Utica Blue Sox, 9-5, in the final game of the regular season for two playoff-bound teams.
Utica scored the game’s first run in the first inning on a sacrifice fly before Newark plated four in the home half on a Julian Gallup RBI single, a Bo-Hao Huang two-run double and a Chase Cockrell RBI triple. The Pilots scored two more in the second on a groundout and a wild pitch to extend the lead. They added lone runs in the third, seventh and eighth to finish their scoring. Utica rallied for three runs in the ninth on a Taylor Olmstead triple but it was too little too late as Newark held on.
Sam Harrington tossed six solid innings to earn the win as Max Ludka notched the save for Newark. Jared Solomon took the loss for Utica.
