Adirondack 10 Geneva 3
The Adirondack Trail Blazers used two four-run innings to come back and beat the Geneva Red Wings, 10-3, on the road.
After Adirondack took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a groundout and a wild pitch, Geneva plated three in the second on an error, a wild pitch and a sacrifice. But then in the third, Nick Bernick hit an RBI single, Chuck Hoover hit a two-run home run and a passed ball made it a 6-3 game. The Trail Blazers plated four more in the fourth on a Hoover two-run double, a Joe McHugh RBI single and a groundout.
Mitchell Boyer struck out five over five innings to earn the win for the Trail Blazers while Joe Polanski took the loss for Geneva.
Albany 1 Oneonta 0 (Game One)
One run in the first inning proved to be enough as the Albany Dutchmen beat the Oneonta Outlaws, 1-0, to take game one in a doubleheader.
Kyle Skeels hit an RBI single in the first to account for that lone run.
Michael Maul tossed 2.1 scoreless innings to earn the win for the Dutchmen as Cal Lawrence took the loss for Oneonta.
Albany 3 Oneonta 2 (Game Two)
The Albany Dutchmen swept a doubleheader at home with a 3-2 win over the Oneonta Outlaws in game two.
Albany scored the game’s first run in the second inning and after Oneonta plated two in the fifth to take the lead, the Dutchmen scored two in the sixth to take the lead for good.
Nate Harris earned the win for the Dutchmen as JD Mundt notched the save. Ty Fowler took the loss for Oneonta.
Amsterdam 11 Mohawk Valley 3
Joe Genord became the PGCBL’s single season RBI leader as the Amsterdam Mohawks topped the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs, 11-3, at Shuttleworth Park.
Amsterdam scored the game’s first run in the fourth inning on a groundout but then in the fifth plated eight runs on an Andruw Gazzola RBI triple, a Chris Givin RBI single, a Genord three-run home run, a Nick Patten RBI single and a Gazzola two-run single. With the three-run home run, Genord is now the single season RBI leader in PGCBL history. He has 45 runs batted in on the season. Two bases loaded walks in the eighth inning finished the scoring for Amsterdam but Mohawk Valley plated three in the ninth, including one on a Michael Ketchmark RBI double.
Austin Keen struck out five over six shutout innings to earn the win for Amsterdam while Jonathan McKinney took the loss for Mohawk Valley.
Elmira 3 Newark 1
The Elmira Pioneers clinch the PGCBL West Division regular season title with a 3-1 win over the Newark Pilots at Colburn Park.
The Pioneers started the scoring in the first inning on a Troy Dixon RBI triple and a groundout. A Kyle Ruth RBI single extended the lead to 3-0 before Newark plated a lone run in the fifth on a Ching-Wei Sen RBI single.
Sean Hjelle tossed 7.2 innings of one-run ball and struck out eight as he earned the win. Parker Caracci notched the save for the Pioneers, who have now won the West Division two straight years. Ryan Wesson took the loss for Newark.
Glens Falls 15 Saugerties 5
The Glens Falls Dragons scored multiple runs in four different innings to beat the Saugerties Stallions, 15-5, at Cantine Field.
Saugerties took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second on a Jacob Yish RBI double. But in the third, Glens Falls took the lead for good on a Chris Kwitzer two-run triple, a Nate Cardy RBI single, two bases loaded walks and a bases loaded hit by pitch. After Glens Falls plated two in the fifth, Saugerties responded with three runs, including two on a Brian Dempsey single. The Dragons followed with their own three-run inning and added another three-run frame in the eighth that concluded the scoring.
Ryan Cummings tossed 6.2 innings of relief to earn the win while Andrew Workman took the loss for Saugerties.
Jamestown 6 Victor 1
The Jamestown Jammers scored six runs in the middle innings to beat the Victor RailRiders, 6-1, at home.
In the fifth inning, Alex O’Donnell hit a two-run double, Micah McClellan hit an RBI single and Christ Conley hit an RBI single to put the Jammers on top. Then in the sixth, a sacrifice fly and an O’Donnell RBI single extended the lead to 6-0. Victor scored its lone run in the eighth inning on an error.
Joe Kelly tossed eight innings of one-run ball as he earned the win while Colin Johnston took the loss.
