Albany 4 Geneva 3

The Albany Dutchmen broke a scoreless tie with a four-run seventh inning to beat the Geneva Red Wings, 4-3, on the road.

In the seventh, two bases loaded walks and a JJ Shimko two-run single accounted for the runs. The Red Wings got a run back in the home half on a Matthew Eastman RBI single and plated two in the ninth but the Dutchmen held on for the win.

Kale Morton tossed six shutout innings to earn the win for Albany as Jeff Rivera notched the save. Joseph Polanski took the loss for Geneva.

Amsterdam 7 Glens Falls 4

A five-run third inning led the Amsterdam Mohawks to a 7-4 win over the Glens Falls Dragons at East Field.

After Glens Falls took a 3-0 lead in the second inning, the Mohawks responded with a five spot, with runs coming on a bases loaded walk, a sacrifice fly, an error, a Tristen Carranza RBI single and a groundout. A wild pitch pulled the Dragons within a run in the fifth but Amsterdam added two insurance runs in the ninth to secure the win.

Johnny Malatesta earned the win for Amsterdam with Tim Naughton notching the save. Tristan Hubler took the loss.

Elmira 3 Utica 2

It took 13 innings but the Elmira Pioneers beat the Utica Blue Sox, 3-2, in a battle of the West Division’s top two teams.

Utica scored the game’s first run in the fourth inning on a Robbie Young RBI single but Elmira tied the game in the sixth on a Troy Dixon RBI single. The game remained tied at one until the 11th when each team plated a run. Then in the 13th, a sacrifice fly brought in the winning run for the Pioneers.

Danny Madden earned the win for Elmira while Chad Burrows took the loss for Utica.  

Victor 5 Jamestown 3

The Victor RailRiders used a 16-hit effort to beat the Jamestown Jammers, 5-3, on the road.

The RailRiders got out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning and added a run in the fourth on a Nick Russo RBI single. Jamestown took the lead in the fourth on a Skyler Valentine two-run single and a groundout. The RailRiders took the lead for good in the sixth on a groundout and a sacrifice fly.  

Brian Reed struck out five over seven solid innings to earn the win for Victor as Luke Tomczyk notched the save. Steve Simmons took the loss for Jamestown.

Mohawk Valley 5 Newark 3

The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs used a three-run fourth inning to beat the Newark Pilots, 5-3, in Little Falls.

Newark took a 1-0 lead in the second and Mohawk Valley answered in the home half on a Garret Kelly RBI single. The Pilots took a 3-1 lead in the third on a Chris Sharpe RBI double and a Mark Tumosa RBI single but the DiamondDawgs took the lead for good in the fourth on a Drew Arciuolo three-run home run. An RBI single in the fifth concluded the scoring.

Spencer Bunting earned the win for Mohawk Valley and Zachary Vennaro notched his eighth save of the season. Ryan Wesson took the loss for Newark.

Saugerties 6 Oneonta 3

A four-run second inning led the Saugerties Stallions to a 6-3 win over the Oneonta Outlaws at home.

Three groundouts and an Alex Thrower RBI single accounted for the four runs. Oneonta cut the lead in half in the fourth but Saugerties got the two runs back in the fifth. Nick Pope hit an RBI single for Oneonta in the sixth.

Nick Burns tossed a complete game to earn the win for the Stallions as William Clemens took the loss for Oneonta.
