League Leaders Batting Average: Brian Kelly, Elmira (.529) Home Runs: Two tied at 2 RBIs: Nathan Koslowski, Victor (11) Stolen Bases: JJ Shimko, Albany (7) Wins: Six tied at 2 ERA: 10 tied at 0.00 Strikeouts: Jonathan McKinney, Mohawk Valley (19) Innings Pitched: Austin Higginbotham, Oneonta (14.2) Saves: Yale Hughes, Oneonta (4) Streak Leaders Longest Winning Streak (Active): Two tied at 3 Longest Losing Streak (Active): Adirondack (4) Last Night’s Games: Elmira 7 Adirondack 6 The Elmira Pioneers rallied to score two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to walk off against the Adirondack Trail Blazers, 7-6, at Dunn Field. Down by one going into the inning, a sacrifice fly tied the game and Phil Madonna followed that with an RBI single, scoring Rob Perteet to give the Pioneers the win. Madonna finished with three hits and four RBIs on the game. Adirondack had jumped out to an early lead, scoring two runs in the first on an error and a Justin Lebeck RBI double. The Trail Blazers scored lone runs in the second, third, fifth and sixth innings to account for their scoring. Parker Caracci tossed a scoreless ninth to earn the win for Elmira while Pat Geraghty gave up the two runs in taking the loss. Albany 6 Saugerties 3 Highlighted by a four-run seventh inning, the Albany Dutchmen beat the Saugerties Stallions, 6-3, at Cantine Field. Cole Malloy hit an RBI single, JJ Shimko hit a two-run single and an error accounted for the four runs in the Albany seventh. The Dutchmen scored their two other runs in the fourth and fifth on a sacrifice fly and an RBI single, respectively. Saugerties didn’t score until the bottom of the eighth when Tyler Noe hit a two-RBI triple. The Stallions added a run in the ninth but it wasn’t enough. Joe Pokrentowski tossed three scoreless innings of relief to earn the win for Albany while Anthony Rocco took the loss for Saugerties. Glens Falls 6 Amsterdam 5 A late rally wasn’t enough as the Glens Falls Dragons held on to beat the Amsterdam Mohawks, 6-5, at Shuttleworth Park. Down by three going into the bottom of the ninth, Amsterdam scored two runs on a sacrifice fly and an RBI double. But Kyle Sacks grounded out to end the game, giving Glens Falls a road win. The Dragons’ attack mostly came in the eighth inning when they scored four runs. An error, a Josh Brown RBI double and two bases loaded walks accounted for the four runs. Joe Jones allowed three runs in 7.1 innings to earn the win for the Dragons as John Bednarek notched the save. Derek Balbierz took the loss for Amsterdam. Oneonta 5 Geneva 4 The Oneonta Outlaws scored all five runs in the late innings to go on and beat the Geneva Red Wings, 5-4, at home. The Outlaws scored two runs in the sixth on an RBI groundout and an error. Then in the eighth, a Quin Cotton RBI single and a Carter Austin two-RBI triple gave Oneonta the lead for good. Geneva scored two runs in the fourth and fifth innings, respectively, on a Matthew Eastman RBI single, an Alex Gionis RBI single and then a wild pitch and an RBI groundout in the fifth. Nate Wrighter picked up the win for Oneonta as Yale Hughes notched his league-leading fourth save of the season. Joseph Polanski took the loss for the Red Wings. Mohawk Valley 11 Utica 10 It was an exciting walk-off finish with seven combined runs were scored in the ninth as the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs rallied to beat the Utica Blue Sox, 11-10. In the top of the ninth, Utica scored four runs to take the lead. Runs scored on a bases loaded walk, a fielder’s choice, a wild pitch and an RBI single. But in the home half, Mike Martinez plated three runs with a hit, giving Mohawk Valley the win. It was a high-scoring affair with multiple runs scoring in six different frames. Before the three-run rally in the ninth, Mohawk Valley had scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth to take the lead. Jon Sell got the win for the DiamondDawgs while Chad Burrows took the loss for Utica. Newark 4 Victor 3 A three-run sixth inning propelled the Newark Pilots to a 4-3 win over the Victor RailRiders at Colburn Park and into first place in the West Division. After Victor scored two runs in the top of the inning on a Nathan Koslowski two-run home run, an RBI groundout and an Acy Owen two-run single gave the Pilots the lead for good. Victor scored the first run of the game in the top of the first on a fielder’s choice and Newark tied the game in the fifth on a Darian Hemcane RBI single. Ryan Wesson struck out eight over six innings in earning the win for Newark as Brian Dolan notched the save. Eoin McAvinchey took the loss for Victor.
