Last Night’s Games:

Jamestown 10 Elmira 2

The Jamestown Jammers used a five-run second inning to go on and beat the Elmira Pioneers, 10-2, for their first win of the season.

After scoring a run in the bottom of the first, the Jammers came out and scored three on a Jake Hammon triple, one on a Skyler Valentine double and another on a CJ Pickering RBI single to account for the five-run second. Elmira responded with two runs in the third on a Rob Perteet RBI single and a sacrifice fly. But that would be all the scoring for the Pioneers on Monday.

There was no scoring until the seventh when Jamestown plated two runs, including one on a Christ Conley RBI single. The Jammers scored two more in the eighth to account for the rest of the scoring.

Mike Wilcox allowed two runs (one earned) over five innings to earn the win for Jamestown while Elliot Lance gave up the first six Jamestown runs in taking the loss for Elmira.

Geneva 6 Utica 1

In a special day game, the Geneva Red Wings handed the Utica Blue Sox their first loss of the season with a 6-1 win in Utica.

The Red Wings started the scoring in the top of the second when Britton Araujo hit an RBI single and an error plated two more. Utica got a run back in the fourth but Geneva responded with a run of its own in the next frame. The Red Wings plated two more in the eighth to finish the game’s scoring.

Dalton Reed tossed six innings of one-run ball to earn the win for Geneva while Michael Klingensmith took the loss for Utica.

Oneonta 3 Mohawk Valley 2

The Oneonta Outlaws walked off against the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs on Monday to move to 4-1 on the season.

Tied at two in the bottom of the ninth, Cameron Coons singled to start the inning. He was pinch run for by Derek Kasperzyk, who promptly stole second base and was advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt. Nick Pope brought home Kasperzyk with an RBI single to give the Outlaws the win.

The Outlaws started the game’s scoring in the bottom of the first inning with a lone run but Mohawk Valley took the lead in the third on a Mike Martinez RBI double and a Justin Kiesow RBI single. Oneonta tied the game in the fourth on an RBI groundout.

Antonio Baglivo tossed an inning and a third of scoreless relief to earn the win for the Outlaws while Shane Reardon gave up the winning run to take the loss for the DiamondDawgs.

Victor 7 Newark 3

The Victor RailRiders used a three-run third inning and a strong start from Colin Johnston to beat the Newark Pilots on the road, 7-3.

After both teams scored a lone run in the first, the RailRiders plated three in the third on a Dale Wickham RBI double, a Nathan Koslowski RBI double and a Nick Russo RBI double. The Pilots got one back in the fourth on a Bo-Hao Huang RBI single.

The next run of the game came in the eighth on a Newark error and Victor added two more in the top of the ninth for some insurance as Koslowski hit a two-RBI double. Newark threatened in the bottom of the ninth but a bases loaded double play ended the game.

Colin Johnston allowed two runs over six innings of work to get the win for the RailRiders as Russ Olive took the loss for Newark.
