Newark 8 Victor 2 (Game One): The Newark Pilots capitalized on four Victor errors to beat the RailRiders 8-2 in Game One of a doubleheader.
The Pilots jumped on the board in the top of the first inning with three runs, including one on a Mark Martin RBI double. Cody Wiktorski hit an RBI single in the second inning to make it a 4-0 game and Martin hit a solo home run in the third to extend the lead. Victor scored one of its two runs in the bottom of the fifth on a wild pitch and Newark finished its scoring in the top of the sixth on a fielder’s choice and a Kyle Bartelman RBI single. A bases loaded walk brought in the second Victor run of the game in the bottom of the seventh.
Jacob Wloczewski tossed 4.2 innings of one-run ball for Newark to earn the win while Peter Lannoo allowed six runs (one earned) to take the loss.
Victor 3 Newark 2 (Game Two): The Victor RailRiders scored lone runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings to salvage a split in a doubleheader against Newark.
Tommy Wagner hit an RBI double in the third, Joe Simmons hit an RBI single in the fourth and Brady Acker hit an RBI double in the fifth to give the RailRiders the lead for good.
Newark scored its two runs in the top of the second inning on a Kevin Biondic and Corey Lerche RBI doubles.
Jesse Bogazcz allowed the two Newark runs over five solid innings to earn the win and Chris Kemp notched the save. Newark starter Patrick Ryan gave up the three Victor runs to take the loss.
Amsterdam 11 Elmira 2: In a matchup of the top two teams in the PGCBL, the Amsterdam Mohawks beat the Elmira Pioneers, 11-2, at Shuttleworth Park.
The Mohawks scored early and often, tallying multiple runs in four of the first five innings. In the bottom of the first, Brendan Tracy and Handsome Monica drew walks with the bases loaded and Tyler Kirkpatrick hit a two-RBI double. An error scored two runs in the second and another error scored two more in the third. Aidan McDermott hit a two-run home run in the fifth to make it a 10-0 game.
Brendan Tracy hit his PGCBL-leading sixth home run of the season in the sixth, a solo shot. Elmira scored its two runs in the top of the eighth on a Keegan Maronpot two-run home run.
Austin Romanelli tossed two scoreless innings of relief to earn the win. He came in for Austin Bain, who struck out nine batters in four scoreless innings. Elmira’s Jared Proctor took the loss after allowing 10 runs (nine earned).
Glens Falls 4 Adirondack 3: The Glens Falls Dragons rallied for two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to defeat the Adirondack Trail Blazers, 4-3, at East Field.
Colby Stratten broke a 2-2 tie in the eighth with a two-RBI single that scored Dylan Robinson and David Sarmiento. In the top of the ninth, the Dragons were able to hold off the Trail Blazers, despite the lead being trimmed to one on a Brad Jones RBI single.
Glens Falls struck first in the game as newcomer Brennan Price hit an RBI single and Jake Vieth delivered one of his own. Ryan Dorow made it a 2-1 game in the top of the fourth with an RBI double and the game was tied at two in the sixth.
Matt Stojkov tossed two scoreless innings of relief to earn the win and Robert Hardy struck out the side in the ninth to notch the save. Tom Fazzini allowed the two eighth inning runs to take the loss for Adirondack.
Mohawk Valley at Utica (DH): The doubleheader was postponed. Game One will be made-up in a doubleheader on July 10. Game Two will be made-up in a doubleheader on July 18.
Saugerties at Albany (DH): The doubleheader was postponed. Game One will be made up in a doubleheader on July 9. Game Two will be made-up in a doubleheader on July 21.
Mohawk Valley at Adirondack 7 p.m.: It’s been nearly a week since the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs last completed a game. They had a doubleheader at Utica rained out on Wednesday. On Thursday they’ll travel to Boonville to take on Adirondack.
Saugerties at Glens Falls 7 p.m.: Coming off a XXX against Adirondack, the Glens Falls Dragons will host the Saugerties Stallions at East Field on Thursday.
Utica at Newark 7:05 p.m.: After splitting a doubleheader against Victor on Wednesday, the Newark Pilots will face the Utica Brewers at Colburn Park.
Amsterdam at Albany 7:05 p.m.: The first place Amsterdam Mohawks will travel to the Capital City to take on the Albany Dutchmen, who currently sit in the cellar of the East Division.
Victor at Elmira 7:05 p.m.: Coming off a XXX against Amsterdam on Wednesday, the Elmira Pioneers will host the Victor RailRiders at Dunn Field.
