Let’s recap last night’s action:

Amsterdam 7 Glens Falls 3

June 15: The last time the Amsterdam Mohawks lost. It’s now ten in a row for the Mohawks as they beat the Glens Falls Golden Eagles, 7-3, on Tuesday night to push the win streak to double digits.

The home team got the scoring started in the first as Marcus Carson scored on the throw down to second with Josh Gardiner stealing. JaVon Shelby drove home Gardiner with a single to right field to make it 2-0. A safety squeeze and a Carson RBI double made it 4-0 in the second inning. Two more runs came across in the fifth on a Thomas Kain RBI double and Alex DeBellis RBI single.

The Golden Eagles scored their three runs in the top of the sixth inning on a groundout and a JQ Folena 2-RBI single. Amsterdam got one of those runs back in the home half of the inning on a Josh Gardiner RBI single. That would conclude the scoring, Amsterdam winning 7-3.

Zack Brown tossed five shutout innings to pick up the win, his second of the season, and Joe Randall threw three scoreless innings of relief to earn a save. Glens Falls starter Michael Harrington allowed six runs in 4.2 innings, taking the loss for the Golden Eagles.

Albany 5 Utica 2

After losing five straight, the Albany Dutchmen won their second straight contest, defeating the Utica Brewers at Murnane Field, 5-2.

The Dutchmen got out to an early 2-0 lead in the first on an Adam Lee steal of home and a Sean Aspinall RBI single. Utica answered with a lone run in the home half of the inning on a Cody Burton sacrifice fly. The Brewers tied the game at two in the third as Jabari Gayle stole third and came around to score on a throwing error by the Albany catcher.

Albany took the lead for good in the fourth as James Locklear scored on a wild pitch after doubling to lead off the inning. Cameron Miller gave the Dutchmen a two-run cushion with an RBI single in the fifth inning. The visitors would tack on an extra run in the sixth to make it 5-2, what wound up being the final score.

Drew Tolson was the star of the game for Albany, tossing seven innings, allowing just two runs (one earned), as he picked up his second win of the season. Patrick Boyle took the loss for Utica after allowing four runs (two earned) in five innings of work. The game was called with one out in the top of the eighth inning due to rain.
