The Cooperstown Hawkeyes open their 48-game summer baseball season on the road today against Elmira.
Their first home game is against Newark at 5 p.m. Friday at Doubleday Field.
"Everyone is real excited," said Shirley Tyler, the Hawkeyes' assistant general manager. "We expect a high level of competition this year, which should make for some great baseball."
