JOSH ANDERSON OF/IF YAVAPAI COLLEGE
Josh was selected First Team All Conference at the end of the regular season. He has continued to perform well in post season play as the Roughriders won the First Round of the NJCAA Region I, Division I Playoffs and will participate in the best of three series (Western Region Championship). Josh went 9-for-15 (.600) with seven runs scored, five RBI, two doubles and a triple in the three games. In the championship game he was 4-for-5 with four runs scored, three RBI, a double and triple. His stats for the season so far are a .388 average (54-for-138) with 16 doubles and 33 RBI, which ranks # 2 on the team.
ANTHONY PIAZZA INFIELDER YAVAPAI COLLEGE
Tony was selected as the ACCAC Division I Player of the Week recently when he went 12-for-16 (.750) with five runs scored, four doubles, eight RBI and a home run. He had 11 consecutive hits during that stretch. He had a great final game during the recently concluded First Round of Playoffs vs. South Mountain, when he went 4-for-6 with a run scored and three RBI. He is batting .333 on the season and his 35 RBI ranks # 1 on the team.
RICKY CLAUDIO OF/RHP ST. THOMAS UNIVERSITY
Ricky concluded his conference season by playing in the Sun Conference Tournament in Fort Myers. He batted .444 (8-for-18) with a double and six RBI in the five games. He had back to back games on May 4 and May 5 where he was 6-for-9 with six RBI. He was a Sun Conference Baseball Honor Roll selection. He continues his sophomore season with a .362 average (59-for-163) with 10 doubles, three home runs and 24 RBI. St. Thomas will travel to California to participate in the NAIA National Championship Tournament Opening Round on May 12-16.
CODY FORSYTHE LHP SOUTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY
Cody had two more solid outings in Missouri Valley Conference play the past two weekends. On April 30 he defeated the Wichita State Shockers in a 4-3 decision. He pitched a complete game, giving up five hits, no walks and had five strikeouts. He threw 25 first pitch strikes out of 35 batters. On May 7 Cody beat Bradley, throwing eight innings, allowed only two earned runs, walked one and struck out seven Braves. Cody has an ERA of 1.98, a record of 7-3 with 86 innings pitched and only 10 walks and 62 strikeouts. He leads the MVC in ERA and is undefeated at 5-0 in conference play.
JAKE WELCH INFIELDER SOUTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY
Jake continues his development through the spring season. The freshman has his average at .287 (4th on team), with 45 hits (# 5) and five stolen bases (# 1). His best performance was against Illinois when he was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI on May 3rd. Cody was 2-for-4 with a stolen base vs. Wichita State on April 29. Jake has raised his average from below .200 to the near .300 level in the past month. He has 11 multi-hit games on the season.
MAX MACNABB LHP UNIVERSITY OF SAN DIEGO
Max pitched in relief on May 8th in a West Coast Conference game against San Francisco. He came in with two outs in the first inning and pitched two and one third innings, giving up one run on four hits, walked one and struck out one in an eventual 12-9 USD victory. Max has appeared in 16 games (# 2 on staff), thrown 27 innings with a 5.06 ERA and is holding opposing hitters to a .277 batting average.
MATT RICHARD OUTFIELDER LOUISIANA STATE–EUNICE
Matt leads the LSU-Eunice team in hitting with a .372 average and stolen bases with 38 out of 40 attempts. He is # 1 on the team in on base percentage (.506) as well. On May 6th, he was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, two stolen bases and an RBI vs. Alvin CC (TX) in game one and followed up with another 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI in game two of the doubleheader. On April 30th, Matt was 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, one run scored and the game winning RBI in the bottom of the ninth inning vs. Delgado CC. He was 3-for-5 with a double, run scored and three RBI on April 27 vs. LSU Alexandria. Matt was 6-14 in the past two weeks with three RBI and six stolen bases.
ZAC HAWKINS INF/OF LOUISIANA STATE-EUNICE
Zac hits in the clean up spot in the order for the Bengals. He is hitting .338 (52-for-154) with nine doubles, one triple and 35 RBI. He has a great strikeout/at bat ratio with only 16 strikeouts in 154 at bats. Zac went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI vs. Alvin CC on May 6 and another 2-for-4 with two runs scored vs. LSU Alexandria on April 27th.
KYLE RUCHIM INF/OF/RHP NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY
Freshman utility player supreme of late with his contribution at bat, in the infield and outfield and as a late inning reliever. On May 7 vs. Indiana, Kyle went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored, played second base and center field, then pitched the last two innings to get the win. He struck out the side on 11 pitches in the eight inning and finished the two inning stint with five strikeouts. In another Big Ten battle vs. Illinois on May 1, he was 2-for-5 with a run and pitched innings seven through nine allowing only two hits, one run and had five strikeouts. He also had a 2-for-5 game vs. Illinois with two runs scored, two RBI and a stolen base.
MIKE TIRRI INFIELDER/DH UNIVERSITY AT ALBANY
Torrid pace of late brings his average from .240 to .309 in the past few weeks, Mike was at a .417 pace (5-for-12) from April 25 to May 1 with five RBI and two doubles. He had a 5-for-6 performance vs. LeMoyne in a mid week doubleheader on May 3. He was 2-for-4 with a run scored and a crucial two run double in the 4th inning vs. Hartford on April 30. Mike was 1-for-3 with an RBI single in the eighth inning against Hartford in the second game on April 30. He is presently batting clean up in the batting order.
NEIL FRYER RHP SIENA COLLEGE
Outstanding statistics and performances out of the bullpen for the Greenwich, NY freshman. He has a team leading ERA of 2.05 in 15 appearances and 26 innings. Neil has allowed only seven walks while striking out 24 batters. He is holding hitters to a .250 average. He pitched two innings in a crucial loss to Canisius but performed admirably in his two innings, allowing two hits and one run but got the loss in the 10th inning.
JOHN ROONEY OUTFIELDER SIENA COLLEGE
Very good all around player who contributes in many ways as a freshman. He ranks # 2 in average at .272 (52-for-191) # 1 in at bats (191), # 2 in hits (52), # 2 in total bases (62), # 2 in runs scored (31), and # 3 in doubles (8). John had a 2-for-4 game vs. Holy Cross on April 27 with three runs scored. John also made a key defensive play in a crucial MAAC game vs. Fairfield when he threw out the potential game tying run at home plate in the ninth inning to preserve a 2-1 Saints win.
ROGER BERNAL INFIELDER UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS PAN AMERICAN
Roger has played several infield positions this spring for the Broncs. He is batting .312 (40-for-154) with eight doubles, one triple and two homers. He had back to back games against Houston Baptist when he went 4-for-8 with two RBI on April 30 and May 1st.
JAKE BROWN INFIELDER KANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY
Jake is batting .291 (43-for-150) with six doubles, one homer, 13 RBI and 14 stolen bases. He had a 2-for-4 game vs. Missouri on May 6, a 1-for-3 with a home run vs. Cal State Bakersfield. He went 3-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base vs. Cal State Bakersfield on May 4th.
DAN KLEIN CATCHER KANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY
Dan is hitting .291 (23-for-79) on the season with two doubles and a home run. He was 2-for-3 vs. Oklahoma State on April 30th, 2-for-3 with two runs scored vs. Cal State Bakersfield on May 4th and 1-for-4 with a home run vs. Cal State on May5. In the Missouri Big 12 series he went 3-for-7 with two RBI and four runs scored.
KJ ALEXANDER CATCHER DALLAS BAPTIST UNIVERSITY
KJ is batting .275 (22-for-80) with four home runs and 22 RBI. He has been a tremendous contributor as a freshman on a veteran laden DBU squad. He set a DBU record of nine RBI in a single game and has had two multiple home run games this spring season.
DAVID OLSON INFIELDER/RHP TACOMA COMMUNITY COLLEGE
David continued his two way contributions to TCC Baseball. The NWAACC is a wooden bat league and David is batting .340 with six doubles, three homers and 26 RBI in 30 games this spring. He ranks # 1 on the team in doubles (6), # 2 in home runs (3), # 1 in RBI (26) # 1 in slugging percentage (.500), and # 2 in on base percentage (.467). On the mound David has four saves, a 2.35 ERA and batters are hitting only .172 against him.
CLAYTON BROWN OUTFIELDER TACOMA COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Clayton is hitting .343 and leads the team in hits (37), singles (32) and is second on the team with 10 stolen bases.
DYLAN BAKER RHP TACOMA COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Dylan has pitched 37 innings as a rotation starter in his freshman season. Batters are hitting only .164 against his offerings. He has 43 strikeouts in his 37 innings but has walked 22 batters. In his most recent outing , he went five innings, giving up only four hits and one earned run to move his record to 3-1 on the season.
ANTHONY PISANI INFIELDER UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN MAINE
Anthony has made a late season surge at the plate for USM after his pre-season selection as an All American. He is batting .325 with six doubles, one homer and 27 RBI. His forte is his excellent defense where he has 204 chances. He had six multiple hit games in the past few weeks of regular season play.
