Recap - Golden Eagles use clutch home run to best Pilots

The Glens Falls Golden Eagles (5-4) defeated the Newark Pilots (5-3) Sunday night at Colburn Park.

In the top of the ninth with outs, Emmanuel Forcier (New Mexico J.C.) blasted a game winning home run over the right field wall that gave the Golden Eagles a 3-2 lead the Pilots.

Newark continued their recent trend at home as they scored first in the bottom of the first inning. With two outs and Joe Landi (University of Rhode Island) on first, Brent Langston (Delta State) mashed a double into centerfield allowing the third baseman to score.

In the top of the third inning, the Golden Eagles took to the scoreboard to tie the game up 1-1. With one out in the inning and Forcier, Ross Kivett (Kansas State) grounded out for a 5-3 putout. As the out was being made, Forcier headed towards third forcing a low throwing error allowing him to score.

The Pilots took charge again in the bottom of the fifth as they took a 2-1 lead. With one away in the inning, Adam Grace (Erie C.C.) hit a double down the left field line allowing the designated hitter Cash Barker (Texas A&M Kingsville) to score.

In the top of the eighth, Glens Falls tied the score 2-2. With two outs in the inning, Mike Vigliarolo (Saint Louis) singled to centerfield allowing Chris King (Louisburg) to score.

Derek Dallas (UT-Dallas) started for the Pilots Sunday night. In his six innings of work, the righty gave up six hits, one unearned run while striking out four and walking three. Mark Scott

(San Joaquin Delta) took the loss for the Pilots. In his one inning of work, he gave up three hits and one earned run. Langston and Grace both went 1-for-4 with one RBI.

Jordan Keysor (Skidmore) earned his first win of the game as he gave up two hits and struck out three in two innings. Jared Cheek (Georgia Southern) earned his third save of the season as he struck out two and walking one. Forcier went 2-for-2 with two runs scored, including the game winning homer.

The Pilots will be on the road as they face off against Mohawk Valley at Veterans Memorial Park at 7:05 p.m. Monday. Glens Falls will travel to Oneonta to face the Outlaws at Historic Damaschke Field at 7:00 p.m. Monday.
