METRO ATLANTIC ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Eric Luksis (Amsterdam '10), Manhattan

The America East Conference has chosen Binghamton University senior Peter Bregartner (Watertown '09) as the Player of the Week for the period ending May 8. The award is his second of the season. Bregartner powered the Bearcats to a three-game conference sweep of visiting Maryland-Baltimore County. He batted .636 (7-for-11) with two home runs and nine RBI to lead a BU offense that accounted for 24 runs in three games. Bregartner had multiple hits and drove in multiple runs in each of contests. He went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI in the opener and followed up with a 3-for-4, two-RBI performance in game two. The senior finished the series with a flurry bashing a pair of home runs as part of a five-RBI day. Bregartner clouted a two-run blast in the second and then ripped a three-run home run in the third.

Through 40 games, the X, N.Y., native is batting .356 with two home runs and 26 RBI. He leads the Bearcats in hits (53), runs scored (33) and doubles (15). He is second in batting average, slugging percentage (.523) and on-base percentage (.405) and is tied for second in RBI. Bregartner was a member of the Watertown Wizards during the summer of 2009.

Manhattan College sophomore Eric Luksis (Amsterdam '10) has nabbed his second Pitcher of the Week award from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. It's his second MAAC laurel in three weeks. Luksis pitched a complete game, four-hit shutout in a 3-0 victory for Manhattan at Niagara University on May 7. The Manhattan starter walked none, struck out six and faced six batters over the minimum at Sal Maglie Stadium. The win was Eric's fifth in a row against a MAAC opponent. He has thrown back-to-back complete game shutouts in conference play.

The Wappingers Falls, N.Y., native is unbeaten against conference foes. In the MAAC, Luksis is 5-0 with a 1.91 earned run average. On the season, the Manhattan starter is 5-3 with a 3.23 earned run average and five complete games. He has 47 strikeouts and a .250 opponents' batting average. Luksis pitched for the Amsterdam Mohawks last summer.
