PGCBL Players of the Night: July 31

Throughout the season, the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League has been recognizing a Player and Pitcher of the Night on each game day.

Player of the Night: Matt Hamel, Glens Falls (Siena)

In the final game of the season for the Glens Falls Dragons, Matt Hamel gave Glens Falls fans something to remember him by. The Siena Saint went 4-for-5 with six RBIs in Glens Falls' 12-6 victory over Oneonta, which moved the Dragons into fourth place in the PGCBL East. Each of Hamel's four hits on the night drove in runs, as the infielder hit a two-run home run in the second inning, RBI singles in the third and seventh, and a two-run double in the eighth. The Gansevoort native finished the season strong, recording a hit in four of his last five games.

Pitcher of the Night: Jack Buckley, Watertown (Franklin and Marshall)

With their season on the line, the Watertown Rapids got yet another stellar start from Jack Buckley to qualify for the playoffs in their inaugural season. Buckley allowed just one run over six innings, and struck out eight hitters in Watertown's 9-3 victory over the Saugerties Stallions. The victory clinched the Rapids' date with Mohawk Valley in the first round of the playoffs on Wednesday night. In the final week of the season, Buckley was dynamite, throwing 13.2 innings with just one run allowed in critical victories over Saugerties and Utica, who the Rapids beat out by a half game.

During the playoffs, the PGCBL will name a Most Outstanding Player for each series in each round of the PGCBL Playoffs.
