DiamondDawgs Romp Past Oneonta

LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. – The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs are on a roll, and there's no one that can tell you that better than the Oneonta Outlaws. Mohawk Valley scored nine of their twelve runs between the third and sixth innings, as the DiamondDawgs crushed the Outlaws, 12-1.

Oneonta would strike first on a passed ball on a called third strike from Mohawk Valley starter Tyler Ksaizek (South Abington Township, PA/Monmouth) that would score Matt Tsukroff (Towaco, NJ/). Tsukroff got on on a ground rule double earlier in the third inning.

Austin Pollack (Harrison, NY/Hofstra) would tie the game back up on an RBI single in the bottom of the inning that scored Alexis Monge-Rodriguez (Pembroke Pines, FL/Barry). Clay Koniencki (Schwenksville, PA/Monmouth) would give the DiamondDawgs the lead on a ball through the second-third base gap that scored Tim Zeng (Lumberton, NJ/Fairfield). Ben Porter (Newton, MA/Columbia) broght both Koniencki and Pollack home with a two-RBI double that traced the third base line perfectly and increased the Mohawk Valley lead to three.

Tom Moore (Burnt Hills, NY/College of St. Rose) would make his debut at Veteran's Memorial Park one to remember in the bottom of the fifth. His first Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League hit (Moore had walked in his only appearance in Utica on Tuesday) was a flare that gave Moore an RBI double, scoring Porter.

Outlaws reliever Brendan Brundage (Coconut Creek, FL/USC Upstate) would put DiamondDawgs on second and third in the sixth, and Koniencki would make him pay with a two-RBI double that would score Pollack and Zeng. The Mohawk Valley designated hitter would come home on an error by Oneonta shortstop Ian Fair (Walpole, MA/Northeastern). Another mental error for the Outlaws would score Porter, when the baseball fell between Fair and second baseman Ben Rhodes (Amsterdam, NY/Siena). When the dust settled, no one was credited with an error on the scoresheet, but Porter would take a leisurely stroll home.

Bronson Grubbs (/Sacramento State) would come into the game in the eighth and make an immediate impact as a balk by Fair (who came on in relief) brought him home. Fair would bring another two runs home before Dorien Jenkins (Marietta, GA/Norfolk State) bailed him out.

Meanwhile, on the mound, Ksiazek and relievers Douglas Molnar and Quenten Thomas (Marietta, GA/Norfolk State) would baffle the Oneonta (7-19) bats all night, only allowing one run and five hits to put the game away for the DiamondDawgs (16-6).

Ksiazek would pick up the win for Mohawk Valley, their eighth in a row. Hershman would be saddled with the loss for the Outlaws.

The DiamondDawgs will travel to Cantine Memorial Field on Thursday for the start of a three-game road trip against the Saugerties Stallions. The Outlaws will head back to Damaschke Field on Thursday for a quick home stand against the Albany Dutchmen.
