Jamestown Extends Win Streak to Eight in A RowJAMESTOWN, N.Y. - The Jamestown Jammers won a thrilling game against the Elmira Pioneers 7-6 to make it eight straight wins and improve to 10-2 on the season. Both teams went back and forth all game, but the Jammers jumped out to the early lead in the bottom of the 1st. Ben Brookover (UTSA) got things started with a triple, then an RBI double by Skyler Valentine (UTSA) made it 1-0. Chris Estrada (UTSA) had a two-out single to score Valentine to make it 2-0 after the first. The Pioneers cut the lead in half by scoring a run in the top of the 2nd with a solo home run by Brett Rodriguez (Wofford). The Jammers increased their lead in the bottom of the 3rd with a 2 run single by Connor Rule (Kansas State) to put the Jammers up 4-1 after the 3rd inning. In the bottom the 4th the Jammers again added to their lead when Collin Stack (UMBC) crushed a solo home run over the left field wall to stretch the lead to 5-1 over the Pioneers. The Pioneers offense kept chipping away at the Jammers lead scoring 2 runs on 3 hits in the top of the 5th including an RBI double by Marshal Gilbert (John A. Logan) to climb back into the game and make it 5-3. The game would stay at 5-3 until the top of the 7thas Anthony Nucerino (Uconn) led the inning off with a triple as the Pioneers would score 2 runs in the inning and tie the game up at 5-5. The Pioneers would again scratch a run in the top of the 8th to take the lead 6-5 over the Jammers. This was like watching a heavy weight fight as both teams exchanged punches, but the Jammers were able to get the final blow in the bottom of the 8th with back to back hits to start the inning followed by a walk to load the bases with no one out. Collin Stack (UMBC) walked with the bases loaded to tie the game and then a fielder’s choice would later bring in the go ahead run to make it 7-6 Jammers. Cory Blessing (Ohio) was able to shut the door and secure the Jammers 10th win of the season (8thStraight) as Jamestown continues its hot streak and sit atop the West Division in first place.
